Under Armour Men’s UA Valsetz Side Zip Tactical Boots
Where to even begin with Under Armour?
They were founded in 1995 by Kevin Plank, the captain of the football team at the University of Maryland at the time. It all started while he pondered on how to make a better T-shirt. The rest is history. In 2006, they officially enlisted footwear among their products, and that’s how the Under Armour hiking, trekking, combat and tactical boots story began.
Today, they have offices all around the world, their main headquarter being located in Baltimore. They were official outfitters for two Warner Brothers movies, as well as FXL Football League. Athletes like Tom Brady, Cam Newton, Lindsey Vonn and many others wear their performance gear, and the list of credentials just keeps on going.
Let’s go over some fundamentals of the Under Armour Valsetz Side Zip
They advertise it as the same old UA Valsetz, only with the added benefit of the side-zip. It’s there to enable easier on/off access. They claim the upper to be completely water-resistant and lightweight, yet breathable and durable. The midsole is compression-molded EVA and fully contoured. It also saves some weight according to the UA.
Armor Bound, Guide, and Lastic are all special UA technologies incorporated in this pair of tactical boots. Combined, they deliver shock absorption, responsive cushioning, and effective foot-strike guidance. Your foot will be locked inside the boot via molded Ortholite cushion sockliner.
There will be no microbes causing odors thanks to the Anti-Odor technology. Rubber toe rand is highly abrasion-resistant, and UA boasts a superior grip on and off-road, courtesy of the special rubber outsole.
Side-zipping Valsetz are 7″ high and weigh 15.5oz.
My initial thoughts
I was like a child at Christmas when I heard the UPS truck pull in to my driveway. My new boots had arrived. For the past 3 years, my current duty boots have been through the wringer. I’ve trudged through mud, been submerged in water and had several nozzles dropped on me. As a firefighter, I need boots that are extremely functional and can withstand the hazards I face every day. I also need something that looks good when I walk in to homes during a medical call.
Over the next week, I will be putting my new Under Armour Boots through my daily routine to see how they hold up. So far my expectations have been exceeded.
